Tango (Am Ch. Tollwest Dances With Waves CD,
RNCL, AG.N, NJC, TG-N, TN-N, CGN, TT, 1/3 RACL, 1/3 TG-O, 1/3 NCC) is pick male from Splash's third litter. He's
a big solid boy with a fantastic head and a confident, friendly and
playful temperament. He is very enthusiastic and loves to work! I wish I
could clone his temperament, he is that much of a joy to train! He has
white feet, white chest, good-sized white tail tip, a tiny white star on
his forehead and a small white snip on his nose. He is 20 3/8" tall
and 52 lbs.
He loves to work in obedience, and achieved his CD
title in 2 weekends at 17 months old with minimal training and with very
respectable scores of 186, 190, 190, and a bonus leg of 188.5. He is now
training for Open (and Utility), and will be his debut in Open A trials in
early April. Tango and attended a CARO Rally
Obedience trial in Sept, and with very little rally-specific training, he
qualified in all 4 trials, earning his RNMCL (Rally Novice Magna Cum Laude) title
with 1 first place win (score of 198) and 2 second place ribbons (scores
of 191 & 186), and won High In Trial for Novice B. We moved up to Advanced
level for the last trial, and he qualified there as well with a second
place, earning him his first leg towards an RACL (Rally Advanced Cum
Laude) title. In August/07, he entered his first CKC raly trial, where he
earned a leg in Novice B with a score of 196/200. The same day he also
passed a TT (Temperament Test).
Tango has done quite well in conformation so far, and he absolutely
LOVES to show! He went to his first conformation sanction match at 5
months old, and came home with Winners Male/Best Opposite! He made his
conformation show debut in June, winning Best Puppy In Breed all 3 days
and bringing home a 2 point Best of Winners one day as well, at only 6.5
months old! In July he headed to the Canadian National, where he placed
2nd in a very strong class of 6 Junior Males. He was Best Puppy in Breed
at the BC Toller Booster in Kamloops, the day he turned 9 months old, then
2 weeks later he picked up a 1 pt Winners Male followed the next day by a
2 pt Best of Winners. Despite going through a "gangly teenager" stage, he
picked up a 2 pt Best of Breed at 17 months old (the day after finishing
his CD).
In August/04 he took a trip to Minneapolis, MN to spend a few months at
Broadway Kennels and start
his AKC show career. I am quite pleased to say that Tango finished his Am
Championship in only 8 shows, with 3 Best of Breed wins and Winners Dog at
the 2004 US National Specialty! Thanks Cathy & RaeAnn DeBruyne for
handling Tango to his American wins! He returned to Calgary at the
beginning of February/05 and on his first day back in the ring this side of
the border, he got that last point needed for his Canadian Championship.
He then took a hiatus from showing while he was maturing, and just
recently this July/06 made his first appearance as a special, making the
cut of 3 males at the 2006 BC Toller Specialty!
Tango has had a good start on his agility training. His favorite
obstacle is the teeter-totter, he thinks it is great fun! He has performed
in 3 public agility demonstrations and did a great job. Tango loves to
entertain the crowds :) He entered his first NADAC trial in July/05 and
had several "almost Q's", which I was thrilled with since he hadn't been
trained in agility for over a year! The next trial in Aug/05 brought him
his first 3 Q's (and he was only entered in 4 runs!), he now has 1 Q in
Novice Tunnelers, 1 Q in Novice Jumpers and 1 Q in Novice Touch N Go. He made his CKC Agility debut in Sept/05 and picked up his first AG.N
leg along with a 1st place! He headed back into the NADAC ring in
Nov/05, earning 5 Q's in 8 runs, finishing his TG-N (Novice Touch
N Go) & TN-N (Novice Tunnelers) titles, as well as picking up his
first Open Touch N Go leg! He ran again in the CKC & NADAC rings in August,
finishing his CKC Agility Novice title, and in NADAC finishing his Novice
Jumpers and earning his first leg
in Novice Chances.
Tango is water crazy and loves to swim just for
the pure joy of swimming. Of course if there is something to retrieve,
that is a definite bonus! We hope to get more seriously involved in field
work down the road
with goals of a WC & JH. I've also done a bit of training with him in
tracking, so far he thinks that glove is pretty special. Maybe one day
we'll go for a TD too?
A couple years ago he discovered a new sport - lure coursing...this is the sport that sighthounds like Whippets & Greyhounds do, chasing a plastic bag "bunny"
on a pulley system, pulled all over a field. Tango watched one dog do it
and then immediately started screaming for his turn! And WOW, did he ever
run after that thing! He's a true natural at the sport and wanted to go
again and again and again. We are also thinking of trying out carting, I think it is
another sport we would both enjoy! Maybe he will become the first Toller
to get a Draft Dog title?
Tango was born and raised on raw food and no
vaccines! He is both Optigen PRA & CEA pattern A (Normal) by
parentage, eyes have a current (Sept/06) CERF
exam, hips OFA Good & OVC Normal, elbows OFA Normal,
Heart OFA Normal, thyroid normal, brucellosis normal, AKC DNA profiled. His OFA
Thyroid will be updated this summer.
Tango is a proven stud (13 litters on the ground so far) and is
available at stud to approved bitches only. Shipped semen (chilled or
frozen) is available by advance arrangement. He has 6 finished champion (4 CKC,
2 AKC)
kids so far (1 with a Group 1st win, and 2 of the 5 finished with BOB wins over
specials!), with 6 others Ch-pointed at last count! So far 2 of his
offspring have passed a WC test, and 1 has a Junior Hunter title.
